There's a joke somewhere in here about how students cheat, but writers "borrow." I was definitely leaning heavily on old-school "Little Orphan Annie" kind of tales.

On the subject of "borrowing" (like The Borrowers) I have a book on writing, by James Scott Bell, and one of the 20? ways he gives for getting ideas is to get inspiration from other writings and authors. That one is literally labeled "steal from the best" heh heh.
