This was beautifully constructed! It's lean, old fashioned, and exciting! Makes me want to watch the original Clash of the Titans again!

Nice take on the classic Greek myths, though the hero in this story could be a little more stoic with his son. Create a contrast between the virginity of manhood to a seasoned adult.

ha, well, this is actually supposed to take place about 20 years after Odysseus' glorious homecoming. Odysseus is in his 60s, and it's getting hard to hold something heavy. I like to think Odysseus would be less stoic and more "I'm getting too old for this." Grumpy and a little devil-may-care. Also, this would place Telemachus in his early 40s. Not exactly the bloom of youth, either.

I also liked the idea that he didn't even really care to see the hydra actually bite the dust, he just wanted to go home. He already spent 10 years going from mythic crisis to mythic crisis, after all.

I think the juxtaposition is more between Heracles, who's famed for his divine lineage, tragic backstory, and feats of strength and endurance, and Odysseus, who's the hero who thinks with his head but is still the only man who can pull back the heavy bow when it comes to it. How they dealt with their respective hydras should therefore be different.

I see. That is a interesting take on greek myths.
