Very moody narrative, fits in a Cthulhu-esk story, involving strange things, though I have noticed like this the other stories on this prompt seem to be more set pieces and not really fleshed out narratives.

Yeah, they're often vignettes. It's a type of writing I like because it reminds me of musical lyrics. You're not getting the whole picture, nor much of a plot, just a single moment, a brief peek at a much wider world, but it evokes the imagination nonetheless. If I do it right, then the reader can reconstruct quite a bit of what is actually going on from the brief portrayal, based on their own experiences and knowledge. I like being on that side of the equation because I feel like a bit of a detective going "aha! I know what's really going on."
